What is IPoE?
IPoE (Internet Protocol over Ethernet) is a method of network authorization in which the Internet works without a login, password, and a separate PPPoE connection on the router. After connecting the cable, the router or device automatically receives an IP address and connects to the network without additional settings.
What are the advantages of IPoE?
- There is no binding to a login, password, or MAC address. The router can be replaced without reconfiguring the connection.
- Higher real performance. Less load on the equipment: traffic is processed more easily, which is important for streaming, video calls, and online games.
- Lower latency and more stable ping. Minimal service processing on the router side reduces jitter and ping (relevant for games and video communication).
- Direct connection of devices without a router. A game console, Smart TV, or PC can be connected to the network directly via an Ethernet cable from the ONU terminal.
How to switch to IPoE?
In the router settings, change the connection type to "Dynamic IP / DHCP", the device will automatically receive network parameters. We remind you that this option is available only to GPON users.
